GUWAHATI: The Assam Police on Friday filed a charge sheet against 36 people for allegedly being involved in the SI exam paper leak scam. A 2621-page charge sheet has been filed against the alleged before a special court in the city.
The charge sheet included names of former Karimganj SP Kumar Sanjit Krishna, retired DIG PK Dutta, and expelled BJP leader Dibon Deka.
Reportedly, the charge sheet was submitted in 87 days since the first arrest in the SI exam case. The case diary of 1,217 pages has also been filed and the names of 183 people have been mentioned as prosecution witnesses.

The confessional statements of five arrested persons were recorded by the Judicial Magistrate in connection with the case. The state police had seized Rs 6.27 crore in cash, 32 mobile phones, 11 digital video recorders, five laptops, and ten vehicles, including a two-wheeler.
Altogether 40 people, including former Karimganj SP Kumar Sanjit Krishna, retired DIG PK Dutta, and expelled BJP leader Dibon Deka, have been arrested, Kumar said.
The case was registered after a complaint was lodged by Pradeep Kumar, then chairman of the State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Assam. He had resigned from the post, taking moral responsibility for the scam.
The case registered with the CID was based on the FIR lodged by the former chairperson of the State Level Police Recruitment Board Pradeep Kumar.
Altogether 26 persons have been arrested in connection with the CID case, 11 in connection with the crime branch case, and three in connection with the Diphu police station case.
Over 66,000 candidates had appeared in the recruitment exam for 597 posts of the sub-inspectors on September 20.
The exam was canceled immediately after it began following the leak of question papers.
