Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani Tuesday met Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to deliberate on solutions related to malnutrition among women and children in the state.
The Chief Minister took to Twitter to inform this and also posted that the Minister had discussed the progress of the 'Poshan Abhiyaan' with the Assam administration.
Taking to Twitter, Sonowal, wrote: "Hon'ble Union Minister Women & Child Development and Textiles, Smt Smriti Irani called on CM Sarbananda Sonowal in Guwahati. Progress of 'Poshan Abhiyaan' campaign in Assam was discussed in the meeting."
The official website of the 'Poshan Abhiyan' describes it as "India's flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, adolescents, pregnant women, and lactating mothers by leveraging technology, a targeted approach and convergence."
Irani also tweeted about her encounter with the Assam Chief Minister. A tweet from her Official Twitter account read: "Met CM Sarbananda Sonowal ji in Guwahati to discuss progress of POSHAN Abhiyan in Assam and deliberated on solutions to make Assam a leading state in the fight against malnutrition among children & women.
It may be mentioned that Irani had on Sunday met Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to discuss the progress of ‘Poshan Abhiyaan’ in the state.
It may be mentioned that Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) winning candidate from Amethi, Smriti Irani had visited the Bagala Temple adjacent to Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati on May 28.
The BJP leader had visited the popular historic temple of Assam to offer prayers after winning the elections.
It is to be mentioned that Smriti Irani had defeated Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Amethi, which was believed to be the most loyal constituency for the Gandhi family.
