STATE COORDINATOR FOR NRC PRATEEK HAJELA PREPARES PPT ON NRC

Guwahati, October 27, 2018:

Complying by the Supreme Court order, State Coordinator for National Register of Citizens (NRC) Prateek Hajela has prepared a Power Point Presentation (PPT).

Hajela has presented the PPT before the Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta, State Chief Secretary Alok Kumar, State Commissioner L S Changsan, Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, besides others.

Hajela started his presentation with describing the history of Assam NRC and Assam Accord. Few snapshots of the NRC of 1951 has been included in the PPT. He has also described the ongoing NRC updation process.

It may be mentioned that on October 23, the apex court had directed Hajela to make a Power Point Presentation before the officials of the state in the presence of Attorney General KK Venugopal and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta.

The Court had also asked the Assam Government and the Government of India, to respond to Hajela’s appeal before the court for dropping the five supporting NRC documents by October 30, 2018.

As per reports, the court is going to hear the case on November 1 next.
