Suspected Bangladeshi national held in Hojai

Hojai, October 10, 2018:

The Hojai Police on Tuesday arrested a suspected Bangladeshi national who had entered Assam without any legal documents 20 days ago.

Talking to InsideNe, Hojai Police Station officer-in-charge K Bania said, “Based on specific information, we arrested the man, Jani Ali, from the market area on Tuesday evening. When we questioned him, we found that he was a citizen of Bangladesh”.

During interrogation, he revealed that he had entered Assam through a gate in Karimganj, Bania said. He added that the person might have infiltrated into Assam in search of a job. The accused was produced in a local court which sent him to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, Hojai Police have intensified patrolling to track down more of such suspected persons.
