‘Jatiya Nayak’ Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has come under fire of his predecessor, Tarun Gogoi, yet again. With much of the state seething due to Sonowal’s silence over the proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, former CM Gogoi has now slammed Sonowal over the filing of sedition charges filed against noted intellectual Hiren Gohain.

Gogoi reasoned that although the BJP has been saying that the charges were filed without the Chief Minister’s consent, it is not possible as the CM heads the Home Ministry.

Gogoi argued that if officers had taken the decision without consulting Sonowal, why has the CM not taken any action against them?

Gogoi also criticized Himanta Biswa Sarma, terming him as a “modern-day Jinnah” alluding to his alleged efforts to divide people on the basis of religion.

The former CM also cast doubts over the end of the alliance between the two ruling parties, the AGP and the BJP, adding that there might be a “plan” behind it.
