Guwahati, February 19, 2019:

The locals of Makum in Digboi on Tuesday burnt the effigy of Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Suren Phukan for allegedly abusing All Assam tea Tribe Student Association (AATSA) activist in a public event.

Digboi MLA, Suren Phukan has rolled into the controversy after the incident at Samdang Tea Estate.

The AATSA has demanded the MLA to apologize within 24 hours.

It may be mentioned that the MLA during a public event at Samdang Tea Estate allegedly misbehaved with the AATSA activist and used abusive words against him.

Meanwhile, the locals alleged that the MLA was exposed by the AATSA activist through a letter lying in public to garner votes in the forthcoming general elections.
