Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad laid the foundation stone for a Tech City, an electronics, manufacturing cluster at Bongara in Palasbari of Kamrup district. The Tech City will have state-of-the-art facilities for manufacturing electronic products along with other manufacturing support services such as BPO, skill development centre, data centre, testing lab, tool room etc.
The Union Minister also launched the Centre of Excellence for Application Security for NIC, Assam and handed over the Master Service Agreements for a total of five BPO units to Anjaybee and Tatva Technologies Limited. The five BPOs will come up at Nagaon, Majuli, Kokrajhar, Diphu and Silchar. The dignitaries also operated the NIXI Node Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Guwahati, which is the country’s first and only neutral internet exchange.
Further products were designed and developed by the Society Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research (SAMEER) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology which include a microwave tea drying system, universal moisture meter and a radio frequency based disinfestations system were also launched during the programme.
