Three ABSU workers seriously injured in poll-related violence in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar, April 24, 2019:

Shortly before the election came to an end in Kokrajhar on 23 April, miscreants vandalized three vehicles and also beat up three All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) members with sticks, injuring them seriously. The incidents took place near Gourang bridge in Kokrajhar.

The three ABSU members and UPPL supporters who were attacked have been identified as: Ratan Basumatary (22), Kwrwmdao Mushahary (23), and Dhrubajit Brahma (29).

The wounded were immediately shifted to the RNB Hospital in Kokrajhar. Meanwhile, UPPL's Kokrajhar candidate Urkhao Gwra Brahma and ABSU General Secretary Lawrence Islary reached the hospital and strongly condemned the incident. They further urged the authorities to take strict action against the attackers.

Authorities have meanwhile started an investigation into the incident.
