Three suspected NSCN-R rebels arrested in Sivasagar

Sivasagar (Assam), September 20, 2018:

A joint team of the Santak Army Camp of DAO Division and the Assam Police arrested three suspected National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Reformation (NSCN-R) cadres from Halwating in Sivasagar district on Wednesday.

Defence sources said based on specific inputs, the security forces had launched an operation and nabbed the three suspected NSCN-R rebels. They were identified as Youngai, Pendum and Nang Sung, all residents of Mokokchung in Nagaland.

The team recovered one Chinese pistol, one magazine and two mobile phones from their possession. Later, the insurgents were handed over to Halwating police station. They were allegedly involved in various crimes related to extortion and arms smuggling.
