Four elephants were mowed down by a speeding train in Hawaipur in Hojai district of Assam late Saturday night. Five elephants were knocked down by the Guwahati-Silchar Express while the herd of wild elephants were trying to cross the railway line. One of the seriously injured elephant is battling for life. The herd of wild elephant came down to the area from nearby jungles in search of food. The train got derailed due to the impact of the collision.
