Tripura totally fine despite 'Bandh', says Biplab Kr. Deb

The strike against the Citizenship Bill called by the Joint Movement against Citizenship Amendment Bill (JMACAB), is continuing in Tripura on Wednesday. The 'bandh' has reportedly caused chaos outside capital Agartala. However, the Chief Minister Biplab Deb affirms that the 'bandh' has not affected the state.

"Those who are not interested about the development of Tripura called the 'bandh' and peace loving people of Tripura rejected the shutdown", opined Biplab.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Pijush Biswas has alleged that the state government has totally failed to control the situation. "The entire state is suffering due to this bandh and the state government is silent and CM is saying that nothing has happened", he said.

a Six member team of IPFT under the leadership of general secretary Mevak Kumar Debbarma went to Delhi on Tuesday night to talk with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah again on CAB. Assistant General Secretary Mangal Debbarma said that they might go to the Supreme Court, if their demands are not met.

Meanwhile, the CPI (M) has alleged that a conspiracy is afoot in the state to create division among the tribals and non-tribals.

The indefinite period of bandh called by JMACAB began in the morning on Monday. JMACAB leader Anthony Debbarma has alleged that police attacked 'bandh' supporters without any provocation, and several activists suffered injuries. He further demanded assurance from the Centre that the CAB will not be implemented in Tripura.

Anthony Debbarma further added that the strike shall continue until the Centre gives its assurance that the Bill will not impact the state of Tripura.

Meanwhile, the 'bandh' supporters created a road blockade on the National Highway. All the train services in Tripura have also been cancelled by the NFR and there is very little vehicular movement in Tripura. Agartala has also been cut off from maximum sub-divisional head quarters, but there is no effect of the 'bandh' in Agartala.

Meanwhile, mobile internet and SMS services have also been suspended in Tripura amid the ruckus over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the Northeast.
