Two arrested for Robbing Rs 3.5 lakh in Kamalpur

Guwahati, February 18, 2020:

Two persons were arrested by the Kamalpur Police Station on Tuesday for allegedly robbing a person of Rs 3.5 lakh in Kamalpur.

A police source said that that on Monday night, information was received by Kamalpur Police that an incident of dacoity took place in the rented house of a person named Alpesh Singh, a resident of Kendukona, PS Kamalpur.

Immediately after receiving the information, a police team rushed to the location and started an investigation.

Based on the investigation process, the police succeeded in recovering the looted money amounting to Rs 3.5 lakh in the wee hours of Tuesday and arrested the accused persons namely Harendra Mahato and Rajib Kumar, both of them residents of Muzaffarpur in Bihar.

The recovered money and apprehended accused persons were brought to Kamalpur PS for follow up action.

In another incident, a person from Lakhimpur was arrested by the Nagaon police from the SBI point in Nagaon town with a huge amount of counterfeit money.

Police sources said that the person was arrested based on secret information.

As per input, a vehicle was intercepted at SBI Nagaon Point. On being searched the police team recovered Rs 1.5 Lakh counterfeit currency from the possession of the driver.

The driver of the vehicle was immediately arrested.

He has been identified as Jakarul Islam Khan, a resident of Laluk in Lakhimpur. Currently, the police are interrogating him on how he got the notes.
