Two ULFA-I cadres injured in fierce gun-battle with Army in Jagun

Tinsukia (Assam), September 26, 2018:

A fierce gun-battle took place between the army persons and suspected insurgents of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) near Jagun in Tinsukia on Tuesday. Two cadres of the militant outfit were reported to be injured.

A defence source said that based on specific intelligence, a major operation was launched by Army in the areas North of Jagun towards Kakorani Reserve Forest. On receiving information about movement of ULFA-I insurgents, the operation was launched on the evening of September 24.

The source added that the operation resulted in exchange of fire between the Army columns and ULFA-I insurgents. It is reported that two insurgents have been seriously injured in the firefight. At the sight of incident a massive Improvised Explosive Device (IED) of 3kgs, live grenades of Under Barrels Grenade launcher (UBGL), fire cartridges and other wars like materials were recovered. Additional columns by the Army have been launched and search operations are still in progress.
