As per latest reports, ULFA (I) cadres who want to return home are being killed on the orders of Commander in Chief Paresh Baruah.
These reports have come amid many ULFA (I) cadres surrendering to the Indian armed forces in recent times as the Myanmar Army continues tightening the noose around the necks of North-eastern insurgent reports.
Although many ULFA (I) cadres wish to flee, it has been reported that they are being prohibited from doing so by the rebel group's high command.
Baruah, meanwhile, has confirmed that some cadres have been awarded capital punishment for crimes such as fleeing the camps with weapons or informing the 'enemy'.
The confirmation comes in the wake of reports that three cadres had been killed on the orders of Baruah himself. It was disclosed by an apprehended ULFA (I) cadre called Mridul Mahanta AKA Nibir Asom.
It may be mentioned that the Myanmar Army, officially called Tatmadaw, had dismantled a number of camps of the militants from Northeast. The militants operate from Taga in Myanmar.
