Guwahati, November 28, 2019:

United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) flags have been found in various parts of Assam on the occasion of the extremist outfit's 'Protest Day.

Notably, the flags were spotted in front of some educational institutions in Upper Assam. According to reports, a flag of the banned outfit was spotted flying at the Rangajan daily market in Golaghat district. In Kaki in Nagaon, a flag was spotted flying in front of the gate of the no. 1 Kaki Junior College.

The spotting of the flags created a situation of hue-and-cry in the regions, and the local authorities were informed, who promptly removed the flags.

It may be mentioned here that the separatist outfit has been observing November 28 as Pratibad Divas (or Protest Day) ever since the outfit was banned by the Government of India.

Meanwhile, there have been murmurs that the Centre is on the cusp of signing a peace treaty with the ULFA. Recently, while speaking at a book launch event, Governement interlocutor AB Mathur said that he is hopeful that the Centre will sign peace agreements with the extremist group within the next three months.
