GUWAHATI: The United Liberation Front of Assam (I) has congratulated Boxer Lovlina Borgohain for achieving bronze for the county as well as the state.
In a statement, Rumel Asom, member of the outfit’s Publicity Wing said that the boxer has scripted history for Assam by winning bronze medal at an international event like Tokyo Olympics.
Attributing the credit of her success to her parents, the outfit also congratulated them on the Pugilists achievement.
The outfit further lauded her parents for encouraging their daughter to go in the field of sports instead of forcing her to become a doctor, engineer pushing her into the rat race for making money.
It said that Lovlina and her parents will act as role models for the society.
Northeastern region has been producing several power-packed athletes, it said. However, it said that due to lack of proper infrastructure the state is still lagging behind in the field of sports than other Northeastern states including Manipur an Mizoram.
It urged the concerned sports authorities to take initiative to improve sports infrastructures in the state so that the state can add more more feathers to its hat.
