Pro- talks United Liberation Front of Asom- Independent (ULFA-I) leader Jiten Dutta has been granted bail on Saturday by the Court of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Margherita. Reportedly, he will be set free on Sunday.

Jiten Dutta was arrested by the police in relation to the arson case of RSS office in Margherita during the Citizenship (Amendment) Act protest in the state of Assam. He was arrested on December 14 from his residence in Digboi.
It is to be mentioned here that post the CAA violence in Assam on December 10, 11, and 12, many protesters were arrested by the police in different charges.
Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) chief Akhil Gogoi was arrested by the NIA for allegedly being involving maoist in the CAA protest. He is now being moved to Central Jail at Guwahati.
Meanwhile, KMSS general secretary Dhairjya Konwar, Bir Lachit Sena leader Sringkhal Chaliha are still under police custody.
