More details have started emerging about the occupation of militant camps by the Myanmar Army (Tatmadaw). The Tatmadaw has been on a blitzkrieg in recent times and after driving out the NSCN (K) from their headquarters in Sagaing, they have targeted other insurgent groups in the region.
The militants had been camping in the area for several years and had animal farms in the region. The Tatmadaw, after taking over the camps, laid claim over the resources of the militant groups, and as such, the insurgents have incurred heavy losses.
As per reports, the Tatmadaw drove as many as five insurgent groups, including the ULFA, the extremist organization that seeks Assam’s liberation from India, to the other side of the Taka river in Myanmar's Sagaing district.
After the operations, the groups, which include the dreaded ULFA (I) and NDFB (P) have been driven to the other side of the Taka, a region that is occupied by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), a military wing of ethnic Kachins in Northern Myanmar.
