ULFA Releases Abducted Tinsukia Tea Estate Employee

Tinsukia, October 24, 2019:

The United Liberation Front of Asom- Independent (ULFA- I) finally released the abducted Shankar Tea Estate employee Gorang Dey on Wednesday evening, thirteen days after his abduction.

Gorang Dey was abducted by suspected ULFA- I cadres on October 11, and who works as a fitter in Tinsukia’s Shankar Tea Estate.

According to Gaurang, he was abducted by a group of ULFA-I cadres and was held captive in the Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh. On Wednesday morning at around 11 am, he was released in Borbeel area, somewhat around 4 km away from Namsai.

He added that the kidnappers treated him well and they travelled through the jungles during the night. “When I was sick, they provided me with medicines and on my release, they handed me a sum of Rs 600 for bus fare,” he added.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, Priyanka Dey, daughter of Gorang said that she received a phone call from a ULFA (I) cadre, and she was told that her father was alive and well.
