UPDATE : Assam records nearly 79% voter turnout till 7 pm

Guwahati, April 23, 2019:

The festival of democracy is nearing its end in Assam as the voting process has nearly come to an end in the final four Constituencies - Gauhati, Barpeta, Dhubri, and Kokrajhar.

The polling percentage as of 7 pm in Assam is as follows:

Dhubri:  81.29 %

Kokrajhar (ST):  76.16%

Barpeta: 77.65 %

Gauhati: 78.75 %

Average turnout: 78.52 %

54 candidates are in the fray in the final four Constituencies. The counting will be held on 23 May.

Meanwhile, Tripura East has also recorded impressive numbers as over 79 percent of the total 12.5 lakh voters on Tuesday cast their votes in the deferred polling for the Tripura East parliamentary constituency.
