Village Rockstars, India’s official contender for Oscars 2019 in the Best Foreign Language Film category, was officially released across movie halls in the country on Friday.
The film is a fiction that follows the dreams of children in rural Assam.
Village Rockstars is an Assamese language coming-of-age film written, edited, co-produced, and directed by self-taught filmmaker Rima Das. The film was premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.
It won the Best Feature Film ‘Swarna Kamal’ award at the 65th National Film Awards, which were declared at New Delhi on April 13, 2018, Best Child Artist, Best Location Sound Recordist and Best Recording.
The film went on to grab 31 awards including regional, national and international nominations. It was also selected for screening in 30 different national and international film festivals.
