DHUBRI: Villagers in Dhubri district of Assam seized four cattle in a luxury vehicle parked near a remote backward area of the village.
The villagers of Khudimari village in Dhubri's Gauripur area noticed a shaking Mahindra Xylo vehicle, which sparked suspicion.
They swung into action without wasting time and caught the handyman of the vehicle from which four cattle were recovered.
The vehicle bearing registration no ( AS-01AK-1622 ) was trying to illegally smuggle the cattle which was hidden inside the dicky of the car.
Due to overheat the engine of the vehicle broke down and was parked near a village of Khudimari.

The driver of the vehicle managed to flee from the spot, but the locals caught the handyman of the vehicle and informed the police immediately.
Later, the locals handed over the accused person to the police personnel and the castles were forwarded to the pound.
A case has been registered against the accused person and further investigation is underway, said Nilomoni Nath officer-in-charge Gauripur.
