Guwahati, December 22, 2018:

The legend, the enigma and the myth, Sir Vivian Richards has landed in Guwahati as part of the ‘Made for Medicine’ tour. The original master blaster is Brand Ambassador of Manipal’s American University of Antigua College of Medicine. He landed at Gopinath Bordoiloi International Airport at 1:30 pm (approx). Immediately upon arrival, he expressed his satisfaction at the weather and added that he feels "very fresh". He will be in Guwahati till December 27.

The swashbuckling opener who led his side to many a cricketing triumph as part of West Indies Cricket’s ‘golden generation’ has come to India this time not to counter the lethal swing of Wasim Akram or the vicious bouncers of Sir Dennis Lillee, but instead, the relatively poor health education infrastructure in India. India has been seeing dramatic growths in medical infrastructure in recent decades (the life-expectancy increases by four years every decade), and the Manipal American University of Antigua College of Medicine hopes to further accelerate the process through providing international-level health education in the country.

There is no better Brand Ambassador for their efforts than the effervescent Viv Richards, for whom his age (66) is just a number. Sir Viv has given a thumbs-up to InsideNE's #SayYes2HealthyLife social media Campaign and revealed that walking and swimming are some keys to his perfect health. Sir Viv be will participating in promotional events for the medical college. And all and sundry are requested to tune into the Inside NE Facebook page as well the official site (www.insidene.com) to take a part in a simple quizzing contest for a chance to meet, greet and receive a signed bat from the colossus giant himself at the lavish 'Vivanta by Taj' located in the most green and clean region of Guwahati, Khanapara, on December 27.
