Water leakage at Guwahati airport exposes dirty picture

Guwahati (Assam), Aug 28, 2018:

The heavy downpour last evening has exposed the abysmally poor infrastructure of the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, the region’s only international airport.

As per a video that has gone viral on social media platforms, rainwater could be seen pouring heavily inside the airport through the ceiling near a spot where x-ray machines for scanning baggage have been kept. The water could be spreading onto the entire floor of the airport.

The incident has sparked off public outrage with many blaming substandard quality of infrastructure at the airport and poor maintenance for the incident.

However, when contacted for comments by InsideNE, Airports Authority of India officials could not be reached.
