Guwahati, February 7, 2019:

Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary addressed the press today as the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) prepares to celebrate the 17th Bodoland Day on February 10. Bodoland Day is held to commemorate the signing of the Bodoland Accord.

While addressing the media, Hagrama said that the “budget is good”, referring to the Assam Budget 2019-20 announced by Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday. “They have allotted 50 crores to the BTC, which is good”, he added.

Regarding the issues of the region, we said, “The only issue we have is the allotment of ST status to Bodos residing in Karbi Anglong”.

“We have an alliance with both AGP and BJP. Although BJP and AGP have parted ways, we are maintaining our alliance with both parties”, added the BTC Chief, speaking of alliances the Bodoland People’s Front intends to carry into the upcoming elections.

Speaking about the upcoming Bodoland Day, Mohilary stated that over 2 lakh people are expected to attend the function which is to be held in Kokrajhar. He also added that the various ethnic communities that will be attending the meet will be garbed in their traditional attire.
