MUKALMUA: Two youth icons came face to face yesterday, as Assam's Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi met Dimpu Baruah, the renowned travel blogger with over a million subscribers on YouTube.

 

"Happy to meet one of Assam rising stars and a tremendous ambassador of Assam’s culture, heritage and ecology, Dimpu Baruah at his house in Nalbari today. I’m proud of how Assamese youth achieve success despite all the odds," Gogoi later wrote on Twitter, also posting pictures alongside the tweet.

 

After the BJP took an early lead for the polls with its announcement of numerous schemes, the Congress is catching up with its first campaign - "Assam Bachao Yatra". Congress leaders are taking bus ride across the state to meet voters, setting the tone for the electoral battle.

At Guwahati's Lachitghat, on the banks of the Brahmaputra on Saturday, Congress Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi dressed in a traditional attire declared the dual raising of the traditional sword called Hengdang.

 

Yesterday, the Gogoi-led faction of the Congress camped at Mukalmua in Nalbari, where the leader addressed a massive gathering of supporters.

 

According to Gaurav's Twitter feed, he assured them of "progressive measures to restore peace, progress and prosperity in Assam."
