KOKRAJHAR: Promod Boro, the newly-appointed Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has said that he will be "happy" to prove the majority after the Gauhati High Court's verdict of a Floor Test on or before December 26 next. The BTC Chief Promod Boro stated this via a post on the social media platform Facebook earlier today.

"We are happy with the verdict of Hon'ble Guwahati High Court for the floor test. We will be happy to showcase the thumping people's verdict to govern BTR for the next five years on 24th Dec 2020 at 10.00 am," BTC Chief Promod Boro posted on his Facebook page moments earlier.

The Gauhati High Court had directed the CEM of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) to conduct a floor test in order to form the next government. It needs mention here that Bor was sworn in as the CEM of the Council amid much fanfare after the BJP-UPPL-GSP parties forged an alliance after an election that saw rival party Bodoland People's Front (BPF) emerge as the single-largest party.

In a big twist, however, Hagrama Mohilary has appealed to UPPL, GSP and the BPF to remain united so that BJP cannot take the lead in forming the BTC government. "I have no ambition about becoming the CEM or Deputy CEM. However, regional parties should rule in the BTC," Mohilary said during a hastily called press conference in Kokrajhar yesterday afternoon.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Hagrama Mohilary led Bodoland People's Front (BPF) has won 17 out of the total 40 Seats in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election, emerging as the single largest party.
