Assam’s Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday took swipes at the BJP party’s two biggest rivals in Assam, the Congress, and the AIUDF. Biswa Sarma made these remarks while campaigning in Kaliabor for AGP candidate Moni Madhab Mahanta who will contest the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. The AGP, BJP, and Ganashakti jointly held a rally at Bokakhat town which was attended by many senior politicians such as AGP President Atul Bora and BJP President Ranjeet Dass.
When asked about the Congress candidate from Kaliabor, Bisawa Sarma said: “Who is Gaurav Gogoi? I don’t know anybody by that name.” Biswa Sarma also remarked on a possible alliance between the Congress and AIUDF during the upcoming elections in Assam. “Tarun Gogoi can take the help of AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal, but our motive is to prevent Ajmal from assuming power in Assam, and thus, we will wipe out the AIUDF from Assam", he said.
