Woman dies in landslide at Jorabat

Guwahati (Assam), Aug 24, 2018:

A woman died in a landslide, triggered by the rains, in Jorabat area on the outskirts of Guwahati.

According to the police, the landslide occurred at Shankardev Nagar on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Indira Devi. She died after the boundary wall had collapsed. She was having her dinner when the tragedy struck her. Later, the police retrieved the body with the help of the locals.

The Jorabat area has been severely affected by the floods due to incessant rains. The rains caused artificial floods which saw dozens of vehicles remaining stranded.
