Youth flees police custody, commits suicide

Guwahati (Assam), Aug 8, 2018

A youth, who was arrested from Panikhaiti area of Guwahati on Tuesday and lodged in lock-up of Noonmati police station in the city, allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday morning.

Identified as Chandan Bharali, the youth was arrested on the charge of blackmailing few girls.

He, however, managed to escape from the police custody and allegedly committed suicide.

The incident has caused sensation in Panikhaiti area as family members suspected foul play and held the police responsible.
