Youths Suspected of Being Child Abductors Assaulted in Assam's Hailakandi

Hailakandi, October 12, 2019:

Amidst rising mob assaults across the country, another incident happened on Friday in Assam’s Hailakandi district, wherein four youths were grievously injured after a group of people attacked them. Three of them were beaten up under suspicion of being child abductors. A police constable was also injured in the mob attack.

A furious mob thrashed the three youths suspecting them of being child abductors in Assam’s Hailakandi. The mob also set fire to the vehicle in which the three were men were travelling.

As per reports, the youths were travelling in an Innova vehicle when they were halted by the villagers, who suspected them to be kidnappers. The villagers thrashed all the four youth and later set their vehicle on fire.

The incident took place in Nitainagar area of Hailakandi district, in which a Jawan named Zamir Hussain was also attacked.

Two police personnel were also hurt while rescuing the four men from the mob.

This incident is eerily similar to the mob lynching episode in Assam's Karbi Anglong wherein two Assamese youths were beaten to death on suspicion of being child lifters.

The shocking incident shook the entire state and massive protests erupted all across Assam, demanding punishment for the culprits.
