Dibrugarh, December 8, 2019:

Assam's singing megastar Zubeen Garg has once again faced the ire of the Assam Government authorities due to his outright opposition to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

It has been reported that due to Zubeen's opposition to the controversial Bill, he has become the target of the state authorities.

According to reports, a Zubeen concert that was scheduled to be held at the Soukidingi Playground in Dibrugarh, was called off by the local authorities, citing "security concerns." Now, Zubeen fans in Dibrugarh have been left feeling the pangs of disappointed, as their beloved crooner shall not be able to hear him live.

It has been suggested that the singer has been barred from performing in Dibrugarh, which is the home district Sarbananda Sonowal, as he is known for making incendiary remarks during his live shows. Zubeen has been known to urge his fans, which number in lakhs across Assam, to vehemently oppose the CAB.

It may be mentioned here that this is not the first time that the Assam administration has taken strict measures to oppose the Bill, as earlier this year, the administration had banned black clothing to deter protesters.

However, the efforts of the administration have not been able to contain the protests against the CAB, which have been raging like a wildfire across Assam. Ahead of the Bill's tabulation in the Parliament tomorrow, several indigenous bodies and student organizations across Assam have taken to the streets to protest against the contentious Bill.
