Guwahati, December 5, 2019:

Assamese musical icon Zubeen Garg has announced that along with the students of Cotton University, he will participate in a 'war cry' against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill on December 6.

Addressing the people of the state via Facebook, Zubeen Garg said, "The confusion over this CAB will not be allowed -- we will not accept it. No student organization has accepted, and we also will not accept it. I may not be a student -- but, I am still a student".

Zubeen further called upon the various communities and organizations of the State to come under a single banner to oppose the Bill in the mass protest to be held at the prestigious University.

Earlier this year, Zubeen had taken active participation in the movement against the Bill, and had also released a single called 'Politics Nokoriba Bondhu' to oppose the CAB. The song later turned into the unofficial anthem of the anti-CAB movement in Assam and beyond.

It may be mentioned that various indigenous organizations have been protesting ever since the Central Govt announced its intention to tabulate the Bill during the ongoing winter session of Parliament.

The anti-CAB stir has peaked in Assam in the last few days, with influential bodies such as the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) taking to the streets in great numbers to launch protests against the Bill.
