GUWAHATI: As the COVID-19 cases in Assam's Guwahati rapidly increasing in numbers, along with other parts of the state, noted Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has offered his house to convert into a COVID care centre.
Zubeen Garg along with his wife Garima Saikia Garg,Wednesday come up with a proposal to the Assam Government to turn his two-storyed house, located in Kahilipara in Guwahati city into a COVID care centre.

Garima Saikia made the announcement on Instagram.
“On behalf of Brindaban Supermarket and Brindaban Theatre, we want to tell the government/administration that our two-storyed building in Kahilipara can be used as a COVID care center,” Saikia wrote in Assamese on Instagram.

Garg's building, if used, could help meet the state's rising demand for beds during this crucial time when the world is fighting with the pandemic.
On the other hand, Assam in the past 24 hours reported 4,936 fresh COVID-19 positive cases taking the tally to 2,77,687, while the active caseload mounted to 31,829.
Kamrup (M) continued to remain on the top with 1,353 cases followed by Dibrugarh 484, Kamrup 454, and Nagaon 275.
The current positivity rate is 8.04 per cent.
COVID death toll rose to 1,531, as the state witnessed 46 more deaths due to coronavirus infection during the period.
Of the total new fatalities, Kamrup (M) alone recorded a total of 13 deaths.
The death rate stood at 0.55 per cent.
