An educational tour turned fatal for many after a bus carrying students, teachers and parents met with a fatal accident after a head-on collision with a TATA Indigo car in Kalgachia under Barpeta district.
As per sources, the driver of the bus carrying students died while several students were reported injured in the incident that took place at National Highway No 2.
It is learnt that the bus car number AS 01 GC8484, which was on an educational tour, had a head-on collision with one Tata IndiGo four-wheeler number AS01 BK5533, coming from opposite directions.
Noor Mohammed, a four-wheeler driver of Satrakonra village, was killed and four people were seriously injured and around 15 students on board the bus were injured in the accident.
According to Joynal Abdin, director of the school at Dhumarpathar under Patacharkuchi police station, there were 70 students and parents and teachers in the bus at the time of the incident.
Later, the four men on board the four-wheeler, along with the students and parents on board the bus, were admitted to the Barpeta Civil Hospital in Kolgachia in a critical condition.
The incident triggered panic across the area and the police rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.
