The recovery of a woman’s body in Hurartek, Goalpara, has caused widespread concern, with the family of the deceased accusing her husband and his brother of murder.
The victim, Saleha Begum, was a resident of Manikpur Salabila, Second Block, in Bongaigaon district. Her husband, Khairul Islam, currently serves in the Indian Army, and his brother Injamul Haque has also been accused of being part of the crime.
According to Saleha’s grieving family, she was forcibly taken from her home in Jorjibasti around 9:40 PM by Khairul and his associates on March 22. The family alleges that Khairul strangled her to death and then tried to stage the murder as a road accident.
They further claimed that Khairul deliberately damaged the vehicle’s glass and tires to make it appear as an accident. The murder, they claim, was motivated by a dispute over property and a four-wheeler vehicle.
Reports have surfaced that Khairul Islam had been married three times, with Saleha Begum being his second wife. His past marital history has raised further suspicions about the circumstances surrounding Saleha’s death.
Police recovered Saleha’s body late at night on March 22 and have launched an investigation. A PAN card found in the car identified the victim, listing her father’s name as Abdus Salam. The vehicle, registered in her name, bears the number AS 01 FT 9384.
Saleha’s family has appealed the authorities, demanding a thorough investigation and strict legal action against the accused.
