Expressing strong resentment against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) Bir Lachit Sena leader Shrinkhal Chaliha on March 12 announced a mass agitation against the Act.
Speaking to the media during a press meet that he held today in Sivasagar, Chaliha said, "People have sacrificed during CAA protest. People who have not sacrificed will not understand the value of martyr's sacrifice. We understand the value of martyr's blood and their sacrifice hence we will fight against the BJP government. No one will be able to threaten us. I urge all regional political parties to declare a unified protest with Assam Bandh. The protest will continue. If India loses a cricket match, doesn't it play again? Yes, the protest will take place. and yes the protest will take place on the road, not on the field"
Shrinkhal Chaliha also stated that if needs arise then he will go to Delhi. He urged the people to boycott the elections this time. He even appealed to all the Opposition political leaders irrespective of caste and politics and give a unified fight against the cause of CAA.
Apart from Bir Lachit Sena, several other political parties and organisations have begun protests across the state demanding the repeal of CAA.
