A group of environmentally conscious young volunteers from Boko has undertaken a commendable initiative to address the food crisis faced by wild elephants in the region. These dedicated individuals have been actively supplying food to elephants struggling due to depleting natural resources in forested areas.
In the Pakhrapara Jongakhuli forest, a herd of three elephants has been wandering in distress due to severe food shortages. The elephants, weakened by hunger, have been making distress calls, signaling their desperate need for nourishment.
In response, a team of proactive young conservationists—Pankaj, Shankar, Sunanda, Indrajit, Dheeraj, and Ratul—have stepped forward to provide relief. Recognized as wildlife enthusiasts and known for their deep concern for elephant welfare, these individuals have long been committed to wildlife protection and conservation.
On Sunday evening, the team delivered a DI (delivery van) loaded with banana plants and ripe bananas to the elephants in the Pakhrapara Jongakhuli forest, under the Singra forest range in Boko. Their timely intervention not only aims to alleviate the immediate food crisis for the elephants but also seeks to prevent human-elephant conflicts by ensuring that the animals do not wander into human settlements in search of food.
The group has assured that their efforts will continue in the coming days to support the conservation of these gentle giants. Their proactive measures have garnered appreciation from local residents and wildlife conservationists alike.
