Karimganj Civil Hospital in Assam has become the center of a controversy. A woman, identified as Usha Barman, died during an alleged wrong sterilisation process.
Following her death, her family members accused the operating surgeon, Dr Ashish Kumar Biswas, and his team of fleeing the scene. The family found the operation theatre locked and broke in to discover Barman's lifeless body.
Officials from Karimganj Sadar Police Station intervened to control the situation. The deceased's body was later removed from the operation theatre by Karimganj Sadar Circle Officer.
This is not the first time Dr Biswas has been involved in a controversy. He was previously accused of administering wrong treatment leading to a patient's death, which was investigated by a team from Guwahati.
Another woman reportedly died due to his erroneous treatment, six to seven months after the first incident. An investigation into the latest incident is underway.
