Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed concerns over the surveillance activities surrounding Jharkhand's former Chief Minister Champai Soren, who has reportedly decided to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Sarma revealed that despite Soren's intention to switch political allegiance, he continues to serve as a minister in the Jharkhand government.
Soren, who had made two visits to Delhi, one a week ago and another on August 26, was reportedly under watch by Jharkhand's Special Branch Police during both trips. Sarma pointed out that Soren stayed at the Taj Hotel on both occasions. However, it recently came to light that the Special Branch Police had allegedly been following Soren during his visits. Two personnel from the Special Branch were detained by Delhi Police under suspicion of tracking Soren's movements.

The detained officers reportedly admitted that they had been assigned the task of monitoring Soren's activities, both within Jharkhand and in Delhi. This development has raised further concerns, with Sarma speculating that Soren's phone may also be under surveillance.
