Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on October 27, strongly criticized Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren for his failure to take action against state minister Irfan Ansari, who recently made controversial remarks about Sita Soren.
Sarma condemned Ansari's comments, calling them "objectionable," but expressed even stronger disapproval of Hemant Soren's inaction.
"Our party condemns the language used by Irfan Ansari against Sita Soren. However, I am more disappointed in Hemant Soren for not addressing such disrespect toward his own sister-in-law," said Sarma. He accused the Jharkhand CM of neglecting the dignity of the Adivasi community by allowing the incident to go unpunished.
"The daughter-in-law of Shibhu Soren has been insulted, yet Hemant Soren remains silent," he added, suggesting that the tribal community would remember this incident when casting their votes in the upcoming elections.
Sarma’s remarks come amid rising tensions and are likely to intensify the political discourse in Jharkhand, where questions about the state leadership's response to internal controversies have become a focal point.
