Assam Congress president Bhupen Borah took a bold stance today, challenging the BJP's stronghold in the state during a rally in Darrang. Borah questioned the BJP's tactics, asking why Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma invokes the name of the Congress instead of Lord Ram in early in the morning.
Highlighting the failures of the BJP's governance, Borah stated the rising prices of commodities, contrasting it with promises made during their campaign. He pointed out that while the BJP claims to alleviate financial burdens through schemes like Orunodoi, the reality is starkly different, with prices soaring.
Drawing comparisons with Congress-led states like Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal Pradesh, where cylinder prices remain lower, Borah outlined the Congress's vision for Assam, promising financial assistance of Rs 2500 per month to every woman if they come to power.
Borah also addressed concerns of Assam employees, highlighting the BJP's reluctance to reinstate the old pension policy. He criticized the BJP's governance for accumulating excessive debts, transforming what was once hailed as a 'double engine government' into a 'trouble engine government.'
Shifting the focus to the upcoming elections, Borah urged voters to prioritize the nation and its constitution over personal or religious affiliations. He called for a return to politics centered on development rather than divisive rhetoric.
In a poignant moment, Borah invoked the sacrifices of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizing the need to uphold truth and integrity in governance. He questioned the suppression of voices, citing the Bharat Jodo Nyay yatra's halt in Guwahati by the BJP government.
