The District and Sessions Court of Assam's South Salmara-Mankachar, recently sentenced 14 individuals to life imprisonment for their involvement in a 2021 murder case. The court, presided over by the District and Sessions Judge, delivered the verdict on November 21, marking the culmination of a prolonged trial.
The case pertains to the murder that took place on May 13, 2021, in Puran Diyara, under the jurisdiction of Mankachar Police Station. Following the incident, an FIR was lodged implicating 17 individuals.
While the accused were initially granted bail, their involvement was further scrutinised during the trial.
On November 19, the court declared the 14 accused guilty and placed them in judicial custody, setting November 21 as the date for the final verdict.
The name of the convicted individuals sentenced, include, Omar Faruk, Rafikul Islam, Asuruddin, Uzair Mohammad, Shah Jamal, Alia Bibi, Kamal Akand, Rafiqul Haque, Samrat Akand, Rana Akand, Rasul Uddin, Akkas Ali, Nazrul Islam, and Sadawal Akand.
Finally, they were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for their involvement in the heinous crime.
