An E-rickshaw driver in Dhubri district's Golakganj demonstrated remarkable integrity by returning a bag containing gold jewellery worth lakhs and cash amounting to ten thousand rupees on the evening of December 20.
The incident occurred when Namita Das, wife of Barun Das, an employee at Golakganj post office, was on her way to Bongaigaon with her son and brother-in-law to attend a relative’s wedding. While traveling to the railway station in an E-rickshaw, she accidentally left behind her bag containing gold jewellery and cash.
Realising the loss, the family frantically searched for the bag across the railway station and Golakganj market. They eventually reached the Golakganj police station to report the matter.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Chand Baig, the E-Rickshaw driver who found the bag, brought it directly to the police station and handed it over. After thorough verification, the police returned the bag to Namita Das. Upon opening the bag, the family found all the valuables intact.
Filled with gratitude, Barun Das and Namita Das thanked Sanjay Chand for his honesty. Golakganj police also commended Sanjay Chand for his exemplary act of integrity.
This incident has earned Sanjay Chand widespread admiration, with many praising him as a true example of honesty and humanity.
