The Balajan unit under Dhubri Police, led by Sub-Inspector Purushottam Singh, successfully intercepted a vehicle in Balajan area under Dhubri district as part of a major crackdown on illegal drug trafficking on November 21 and seized huge quantities of contraband drugs.
In response to a tip, the Balajan police unit carried out a naka checking on Tuesday night in the Baushmari area of Balajan under Dhubri police. They track down one vehicle and found two men and a woman inside, along with a significant amount of drugs in their possession.
The operation culminated in the arrest of Biswajit Ali, Harshjit Sheikh and Asma Khatun hailing from Bidyapur village of Bongaigaon district. The seized items included a cache of 100 grams of heroin in 8 number of soap boxes along with a vehicle bearing registration AS-26F-6664.
As per source, the illegal heroin containers was allegedly intended to be traded in the Baushmari area of Balajan. Although the accused drug dealers are from the Bongaigaon district, they may have used a secondary route via Gosaigaon, Tamarhat, Balajan in Dhubri district.
Authorities are concerned about the trafficking of illegal substances for a long time. This apprehension signifies a critical turning point in the endeavours to demolish the illicit drug trade that has afflicted communities and jeopardised lives.
In order to protect the community from the negative effects of drug proliferation, authorities are anticipated to further demolish drug trafficking businesses and probe further into the network as the inquiry goes on. A case has been filed, and more research is being carried out on this issue.
