A comprehensive HIV/AIDS screening and awareness camp was conducted on Tuesday at 3 Number Makum Pathar Mache Gaon Road, Margherita. The event was organised by the Margherita De-Addiction cum Rehabilitation Centre in collaboration with ICTC Margherita CHC/FRU.
Fifteen youths from across Tinsukia district, including the centre’s attendees, participated in the screening. The program aimed to promote early detection and awareness of HIV/AIDS in the community. Key personnel present included Joyshri Dutta, counsellor, and Esanul Hasim, laboratory technician, from ICTC Margherita CHC/FRU, along with Suman Limbu, project coordinator from Lekhapani, and Dyoti Borgohain, psychologist counselor from the Margherita De-Addiction cum Rehabilitation Centre. Dr P Sonowal, trained at NDDTC, AIIMS, also contributed to the initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Pritam Singh and Deboraj Baruah, president and secretary of the Margherita De-Addiction cum Rehabilitation Centre, emphasised the importance of conducting these camps annually. “Early detection is crucial in addressing any health issues effectively,” they stated, reaffirming their commitment to raising awareness and ensuring timely intervention.
