Assam: Kokrajhar Medical College gets new dialysis centre; to offer free treatment  

A new dialysis centre has been inaugurated at Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital under the Prime Minister’s National Dialysis Programme, marking a crucial step in enhancing healthcare services in the region. The centre, equipped with four modern dialysis units, will accommodate up to 12 patients daily and provide treatment free of charge.

Assam Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gora Brahma presided over the inauguration ceremony and highlighted the growing need for accessible kidney care. "The number of patients with kidney-related problems is increasing day by day. Earlier, due to the absence of a dialysis centre in Kokrajhar, patients had to travel outside the district for treatment, which was both costly and inconvenient. Now, with the establishment of this facility, patients will no longer have to face such challenges," he said.

The facility is expected to significantly ease the burden on patients who previously had to travel long distances for dialysis. Residents of Kokrajhar and nearby areas can now access critical treatment locally, bringing much-needed relief to families in the region.
