In a significant crackdown, the Assam Police's Special Task Force (STF) conducted a major operation in Kokrajhar and Dhubri, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals suspected of having jihadi links.
The operation targeted several areas, including Jaipur, Khachipara, Bhotgaon, and Bhadiyaguri, where the suspects were apprehended. Among those arrested, five individuals have been taken into custody by the STF and are currently en route to Guwahati for further questioning.
The arrested individuals from Kokrajhar have been identified as Hakim Ali Mondal, Habijur Ali, Majnu Sheikh, Amidul Sheikh, Nur Islam and Mujibur Rahman.
Additionally, a separate operation was carried out overnight in Dhubri, where Enamul Haque and Abdul Karim were arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation. Enamul Haque hails from Hatipota area while Abdul Karim hails from Khudigaon area in Bilasipara sub-division under Dhubri district.
The authorities are continuing their investigations to uncover more details regarding the suspects' affiliations and activities.
