Assam man, daughter killed in road accident in Bongaigaon, angry locals torch bus

A man and his daughter died in a road accident involving a trailer, a bus and a bike on National Highway 17 in Assam’s Bongaigaon district on November 22.  

 

The accident occurred in Talguri's Nityabazar, as the father was on his way to drop his daughter at school in Bahalpur. 

 

The deceased, identified as Nasir Ahmed, who was a teacher by profession and his daughter Shanaz Ahmed, met with the tragic accident which occurred due to the reckless driving of the bus.

 

The incident has sparked tension in the region, with locals blocking the highway to stage a protest.

 

In a fit of anger, the crowd set the bus on fire, escalating the situation further.
