Assam: Massive fire at Tikak colliery's coal mines in Margherita

A severe fire erupted on Friday at around 1:00 pm at the Malu gaon coal mines of Tikak Colliery's eastern side, falling under the Northeastern Coalfields Coal India Ltd Margherita. 

As of now, there has been no intervention from fire tenders, Assam Government officials, NEC officials, or police personnel to extinguish the fire.

Local residents claim that the fire occurred at an illegal coal mine owned by Abdul Goni of Ledo, who allegedly operates hundreds of illicit rat hole mines. 

No casualties have been reported at the time of filing this report.
